How to get better skin now

Everyone wants great looking, healthy skin.  This comes from treating your body and your skin better.  Below are some tips for getting the healthy skin every day. If you have major concerns, or seem to have a skin condition that is not going away, make an appointment with your dermatologist. 

First and foremost, you should eat better. The way your skin looks on the outside is in many ways a reflection of what you are putting into it.  Eating junk, often results skin that looks dull, oily or unbalanced. If you want better skin, be aware of what you eat and strive for a well-balanced diet.  Avoid junk, processed and fried food that will later cause several skin problems.  Similarly you should always drink the recommended amount of water for good skin hydration.  One of the best foods for your skin are strawberries, which are known to contain vitamins A, C and B. Additionally, anthocyanins, a red pigment in strawberries, are photoprotective against ultraviolet rays, and have anti-inflammatory properties.

You should also make sure you are following a proper skin care routine. Try to follow a skin care routine of cleansing, toning, moisturizing and exfoliation.  This is essential regardless of what type of skin you have. Just remember to use products that are suited for your skin. You should be removing all makeup before going to bed.  Use makeup removing wipes or toning/cleansing agents.  Rose water also works well.

Any time you are spending time outdoors, wear sunscreen. Wear sun-screen protection at all times, especially on your face.  Most make-up contains some level of SPF, so it makes sunscreen easy to incorporate into your daily routine. The sun’s harsh rays can cause many skin problems like aging, acne, and sunburn.

We all know stress can wreak havoc on our entire body.  So, do yourself (and your skin) a favor and avoid stress.  Stress, tension and anxiety can have negative effects on your skin. Likely why your skin always looks better on vacation. Try to avoid unnecessary worries in order to prevent your skin from declining.  Indulge yourself in yoga, regular exercise and or anything else that helps you to combat stress and anxiety.

As with anything else, keep your skin clean from dirt and germs. This can be as simple as washing your hands, and keeping them off your face while sleeping or while sitting at your desk.  Make sure that your pillow cover is always clean so germs do not form pimples. Avoid using cosmetic products or tools (e.g. brushes, sponges) that are very old.  Don’t use or share your cosmetics with anyone else.

If you want your skin to look better, you should get better sleep. Sound sleep is essential to take care of your skin and your body too.  Try to sleep a consistent amount of time each night to energize your body from within.  When you aren’t tired, your skin will look and feel fresher externally.

If you are a smoker, the easiest way to get your skin looking better is to quit smoking. Smoking is responsible for premature aging as the smoke you inhale contracts the blood flow to blood vessels, which thereby deprives your skin of necessary nutrients that your body delivers.
